This year 66°North marks 100 years alongside the Icelandic nation. To celebrate, we have created a capsule collection celebrating 10 styles – 10 decades. Each style represents an iconic product introduced in that decade. Whether that’s the classic fisherman’s anorak from 1926 or our most versatile shell jacket from 2011 - Snæfell.

1996-2006

Suitable for the Everest. Perfect for Iceland. The first generation of 66°North down outerwear inspires a shortened version of the Tindur Down Jacket, finished with archive patches referencing the original designs. The Tindur Short Down Jacket is crafted from WINDSTOPPER® fabric by GORE-TEX LABS®, a windproof, breathable and water-repellent fabric, and insulated with 800-fill white duck down for exceptional warmth.

This version is 12.5 cm shorter than the original Tindur, offering greater versatility for everyday wear. Large flap chest pockets reference the Everest expedition overall that inspired the original design, while archive patches revive heritage logos from the 66°North archive. The jacket features a baffle construction with internal walls that help keep the down evenly distributed. The stitching does not penetrate the outer shell, helping retain warmth and allowing the jacket to heat up quickly with movement. Each jacket takes up to 48 hours to produce.

The 100-Year Capsule brings the 66°North archive into the present; the collection reflects the changing needs, technologies and styles that have shaped 66°North. The design team worked closely with the company’s extensive archive, selecting pieces that capture significant moments in the brand’s history and creating modern updates. Many of these products are still part of the brands collection today, now reimagined with new tweaks and updates.

Each capsule piece also features a specially developed woven label containing information about the style and the decade it represents.
