Around the solstice, northern Iceland experiences near 24-hour darkness, with temperatures falling as low as -30°C (-22°F). Jokla was created because it had to be.
Jokla is a parka, and a tool. The exterior of Jokla is made from a ruggedized Cordura nylon that was selected for its extreme durability and abrasion-resistance. A water-repellent coating, taped seams, and coated chest zippers make Jokla waterproof. Finally, over a pound of premium 800-fill white goose down keeps out the cold. Adjustments on the hood, hem, and sleeves allow for personalized fit (or a spot of extra weatherproofing.) Reflective flashes, fifteen pockets, and a removable fox fur ruff provide further utility.
66°North is respected by guides, explorers, researchers, and film crews for making the world’s best parkas. When Arctic photographer Benjamin Hardman must stand still for hours to get one perfect shot, he relies on his Jokla.
All animal products used in 66ºNorth products are ethically-sourced from audited suppliers. Our down comes from a long-time German supplier, who has been certified in accordance with the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) Downpass, and the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. The parka features a detachable fur trim. The fur trims are supplied and specially selected by Feldur Verkstæði, a company with extensive experience in producing leather goods and fur products, ensuring both quality and a responsible sourcing process for the Icelandic market. The skins themselves are produced by Saga Furs.
Please be advised that if Jökla’s fur ruff should get soaked, it should be carefully let dry at room temperature. Please also be advised that temperatures that produce rain may be too warm for Jökla.
Jokla is cut to be worn with a mid-layer and fits all genders comfortably, using adjustments on the hood, waist, hem, and sleeves to customize wear. Those between sizes should size down.
