Meet some of the people from our own factory
On the occasion of International women's day, we are proud to celebrate strong females leading our own factory in Saldus, Latvia.
66°North has operated its own production since 1926 and owned 2 factories in Latvia since 1999, evolving with the team of specialists over time. Offering diverse production capabilities, 66°North Baltic produces 45% of the total 66°North production including hero items like Kaldi sweater, Grettir zip neck and Dyngja shell, as well as the fisherman's gear.
We sat down with previous and current factory directors, Silva and Kristīna, to chat about 66°North Baltic factory beginning, team behind and their expertise.

66°North factory in Saldus currently employs 160 people, from which 150 are women and 10 men. The team has great experience and knowledge within their field - 70% of the employees have been at 66°North Baltic for more than 10 years.
"If you look at manufacturing globally, usually factories focus on one type of garment. Whether it's shirts, suits or t-shirts. What sets us apart is a great diversity in production. Our teams can produce baby mittens while also producing the most technical products like GORE-TEX shell jackets," says Silva Landmane, factory director until 2025.
"The keyword is experience," adds Kristīna Mačukāne, current factory director and part of the team since 2014. "Our potential is flexibility and knowledge, thanks to a strong team with a great tenure who are skilled to work with highly technical fabrics and the latest technology."

Saldus factory also specializes in smaller run production utilizing leftover materials. Closely working with design and development teams in Iceland, many projects including Olympics uniforms for the Icelandic team, have been developed exactly here.
